Another beer from Brew Dog, this one uses barrels for the Islay region.
This beer has a strong Islay Scotch aroma, with peat smoke and sea salt notes. The color is black without any light shining through. The head pours thick with little retention, fizzing down to just cover the top of the beer.
This beer has a pronounced scotch flavor with noticeable stout characteristics. The scotch flavor is smoky with peat smoke with just a hint of sea salt and a little oak barrel taste. The stout roasted malt flavor is present along with a bit of sweetness. There is a hint of alcohol warmth that adds to the scotch flavor. The mouthfeel is full with good carbonation. The finish is smoky with scotch.
This is a wonderful beer a good balance of scotch and beer. Islay is my favorite region for scotch and this beer does the scotch justice. I like the scotch flavors in an easy drinking 12oz glass.
