#199 BBC - Home wrecker Double IPA
BBC or Bluegrass Brewing Company is a microbrewery in Louisville Ky. I recently picked up a good selection of their beer. The label on this beer shows a tornado wrecking the house, Louisville was hit hard by a huge tornado outbreak in April 3rd 1974.
This beer a lot of floral grass hop aroma with a little caramel malt smell. The color is a hazy amber. The head is very thick with large bubbles and good retention, the beer is hard to pour into the glass the head is so thick.
There are a lot of hops in this beer, with a grass, floral taste, and a little fruit taste. The beer has a strong malt sweetness and grain taste balancing well against the hop taste. The mouthfeel is full and sticky much like the head. The finish is bitter but it is appropriate against the hop flavor and malt sweetness.
This is a really good beer. Some Double IPA are too hoppy with not enough malt, but this one is well balanced and tasty.
