I got this beer from the Schlafly Bottleworks. An ESB or Extra Special Bitter is a traditional English style beer that sometimes compared to IPAs.
This beer has hops and malt aroma, but not a very strong aroma, might be too cold. The color is a reddish amber with a light haze. There is pretty much no head on this beer, could be because of the bartender pour. The beer did have plenty of bubbles floating up from the bottom.
This beer has a sharp hop bitter taste making the mouth water. The hops have a floral taste, likely from English hops. There is some honey flavored sweetness to the beer giving some balance to the hops. The mouthfeel is slightly full. Unsurprisingly the finish is bitter.
I am not a huge ESB fan and this beer is not changing my feelings. There is nothing wrong with this beer I just want more hop flavor from all the bitterness.
