#192 Guinness - Extra Stout

Instead of a green beer I have another Irish beer. This is another offering from St. James Gate Brewery under the Guinness name.

The aroma of this beer is malty with a bit of earthy dirt smell. The color is black and opaque with no light getting through. The head is very thick with big bubbles, and good retention.

This beer does not taste anything like Guinness. There is a lot of dry bitterness to the beer. The bitterness lightens in the back of the mouth to give a fruity flavor, only to be returned with a bitter finish. The is also a roasted burnt malt taste, this beer taste like chewing dry on dark malt barley. The mouthfeel is medium to think nothing like a normal Guinness. The finish is dry and bitter, with a little floral aroma.

Sometimes on a brewery tour dry barley is offered to be sampled and chewed on, this beer taste like a dark barley. It is drinkable but I would not want to drink it again.
